Sandra Hüller Confirmed for Secret Role in Avengers: Doomsday

Oscar-nominated actress Sandra Hüller has joined the cast of Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday, expected in December 2026, in an as-yet undisclosed role.

Sandra Hüller, the German actress Oscar-nominated for Anatomy of a Fall and recently praised for her work in Project Hail Mary, has been confirmed as part of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and set to premiere on December 18. The Hollywood Reporter officially broke the news, while Marvel Studios has not commented on the casting or offered any details about her character. Speculation points to two possibilities: she may portray Cynthia von Doom, the mother of Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.), or a member of the group known as the Latverian Witches. Her reported role is described as a cameo within the film's enormous ensemble. Doomsday unites a sprawling lineup of MCU heroes — including returning original Avengers Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans alongside newer faces — against the all-powerful Doctor Doom. Hüller's addition brings significant awards-circuit prestige to the blockbuster, fresh off a banner year that has included Project Hail Mary, the war drama Rose, the Tom Cruise film Digger, and Fatherland, Paweł Pawlikowski's period biographical drama that has earned its own Oscar buzz.
