Madueke's Late Deflected Strike Earns Arsenal Narrow Win at Nottingham Forest

Substitute Noni Madueke scored Arsenal's only shot on target in the 80th minute to seal a 1-0 Premier League win at Nottingham Forest, moving the Gunners to within three points of leaders Manchester City.

Arsenal edged out Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground on October 18, in a match they barely deserved to win. Noni Madueke, who had been dropped from the recent England squad, came on at half-time and broke the deadlock with 10 minutes remaining, cutting in from the left flank and unleashing a drive that took a hefty deflection off Forest defender Jair Cunha before nestling in the net. It was Arsenal's only shot on target in a disjointed, below-par display. The result nonetheless moved Arsenal back into second place in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Manchester City. For Nottingham Forest it was a third 1-0 home defeat of the season and a third consecutive league loss, leaving them in the relegation zone after seven matches. New Forest manager Oliver Glasner has managed only one win in seven top-flight matches since taking over in the summer. Arsenal's victory was their sixth in seven league games since a shock 3-0 defeat to Brighton in September.
