Europe's Largest Immersive Art Experience 'Absurd City' Now Open at Westfield London
Wake The Tiger's Absurd City opened at Westfield London in Shepherd's Bush on 15 October 2026, occupying 80,000 sq ft in the space formerly used by KidZania and billed as Europe's biggest immersive art experience.
Absurd City, created by the team behind Bristol's Dream Factory and the Boomtown Fair festival, opened its doors at Westfield London in Shepherd's Bush on 15 October 2026, taking over 80,000 square feet of the shopping centre's first floor — the space previously occupied by children's role-play attraction KidZania. The experience invites visitors, described as 'daytrippers', to step into a surreal alternate cityscape divided into five distinct districts, each with a different character: Bloom Street (consumer culture), Reclamia (waste and recycling), Imaginopolis (creative sanctuary), NEON // NEXUS (a hacker environment) and Elite HQ (a gated enclave). The attraction features secret passages, interactive installations, robotic elements and original storytelling, developed by some of the UK's foremost underground artists and makers. Luke Mitchell, chief creative officer, described it as 'a beautifully chaotic process' designed to create 'a cosmic, eccentric and deeply human playground'. Tickets went on sale in July 2026. The attraction is open to all ages and abilities. The Bristol predecessor, Dream Factory, welcomed over 500,000 visitors from more than 70 countries since opening in 2022, lending commercial credibility to the London launch. Westfield London is in Shepherd's Bush, west London, accessible via Shepherd's Bush and Wood Lane stations.
