Hokusai's Complete 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji' to Open at Dulwich Picture Gallery
Dulwich Picture Gallery opens a landmark exhibition from 20 October 2026 bringing together all thirty-six of Hokusai's iconic woodblock views of Mount Fuji in the UK for the very first time, running until 17 January 2027.
From Tuesday 20 October 2026, Dulwich Picture Gallery in south-east London presents 'Hokusai: Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji', an exhibition that gathers the complete set of Katsushika Hokusai's legendary woodblock print series — including the world-famous 'The Great Wave' — in one place in the United Kingdom for the first time ever. The series, created between 1830 and 1833, comprises thirty-six compositions depicting Mount Fuji from various locations and in different seasons, moods and weather conditions, each framed by the surrounding landscape in ways that transformed woodblock printing as an art form and influenced generations of Western artists including Van Gogh and Monet. All thirty-six prints come from the Iuchi Collection. The exhibition runs until 17 January 2027. Tickets are priced at £21.50. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, and is accessible by rail from West Dulwich station. The show follows considerable momentum at Dulwich, which has established itself as one of London's most compelling destinations for Japanese print exhibitions. The preview on 19 October drew strong advance interest, with the gallery describing demand for tickets as exceptionally high in the weeks leading up to opening day.
