Thai Vietjet opens daily Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok route at 90% load
Thai Vietjet launched its first direct Malaysia service on 9 October, with the Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok daily flight reporting an initial load factor of around 90%.
On 10 October 2026 Southeast Asian travel pages followed up on Thai Vietjet Air's new daily Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok route, which operated its first flight the previous day. The service is Thai Vietjet's first direct link between Thailand and Malaysia and the carrier said initial load factors were around 90%. It joins a crowded Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur corridor served by AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways and Batik Air but underlines the recovery of intra-ASEAN low-cost travel. The launch comes as Thailand continues to adjust to its new 30-day visa-exempt limit and as regional carriers reposition for the 2026-27 high season. Elsewhere in Asia on 10 October, SCAT Airlines started twice-weekly Singapore-Shymkent flights routed via Sanya from 20 October using Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and Turkish Airlines reported nine million passengers in September and 73 million in the first nine months of 2026, with an 86.8% September load factor. Travel-trade press and Malaysian and Thai outlets ran the story prominently.
