Mayor Sadiq Khan announced on the Mayor's website that Diwali on the Square will take place on Sunday 25 October 2026 at Trafalgar Square from 1pm to 7pm, free and open to all families. The celebration features an opening performance by 200 dancers, with the main stage showcasing music and dance from London's Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities. Additional attractions include arts and crafts workshops, yoga and meditation sessions, dance workshops, storytelling activities, and a Ramayana Puppet Show with handcrafted puppets presented by StoryHour UK. Multiple stalls serve vegan and vegetarian cuisine. Khan described the event as celebrating 'the enormous contribution that London's Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities make to the life of our city.' The Diwali in London committee, comprising 13 organisations, is delivering the event, with the National Hindu Students' Forum (UK) chairing this year. The theme selected is 'Preserving the flame, illuminating tomorrow,' emphasising youth empowerment and intergenerational values. Remitly is the headline partner, with Lidl and Jio Hotstar as associate partners.
