Silver Ferns Beat Australia 62-50 to Take 2-0 Constellation Cup Lead

New Zealand's Silver Ferns defeated the Australian Diamonds 62-50 in Christchurch to extend their unbeaten home run against Australia to 12 matches and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the 2026 Constellation Cup netball series.

The Silver Ferns produced a powerful display at Christchurch to beat the Australian Diamonds 62-50, going 2-0 up in the four-match 2026 Constellation Cup with two games remaining — both in Australia. Shooter Grace Nweke was the outstanding performer, converting 49 of 52 attempts and nearly achieving her 12th career 50-goal game before being substituted with 90 seconds remaining. Wing attack Peta Toeava impressed on her return to the international arena, contributing 29 feeds and 21 goal assists. New Zealand led throughout the first half, reaching 33-26 at the interval, but a resilient Australian third quarter — won 16-12 — cut the Ferns' advantage to just two goals and raised home-side nerves. New Zealand answered decisively with a 17-8 final quarter to seal the result. Quarter scores: 17-14, 16-12, 12-16, 17-8. Defenders Kelly Jackson and Karin Burger were also prominent for the Ferns. The win followed New Zealand's 56-50 victory in the series opener in Auckland last Sunday. With the series now in Australia, the Ferns need just one more win or two draws across the final two matches to retain the Constellation Cup.
