Arsenal's David Raya Admits He Would 'Love to Play' in La Liga One Day

Arsenal and Spain goalkeeper David Raya, 31, has told a Spanish newspaper he would love to experience La Liga in the future, fuelling speculation about his long-term future at the Emirates despite a contract running until 2028.

Arsenal and Spain international goalkeeper David Raya sparked winter-window speculation on 22 October when he told Spanish sports newspaper Marca he would "love" to play in La Liga at some point in his career. The 31-year-old Girona native, who joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford before completing a permanent transfer, has established himself as one of Europe's elite goalkeepers under Mikel Arteta, playing a central role in Arsenal's Premier League title success last season. Despite a contract at the Emirates Stadium running until 2028, Raya was candid about a future return to Spain: "I'm Spanish, and I'd love to play there — that's for sure," he told Marca, adding: "For now, I'm very happy here, but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league." His comments quickly spread across football media, with reports linking him to Real Madrid. Arsenal are reportedly unwilling to sell before his contract expires and are understood to be considering an improved deal to ward off La Liga interest. The admission makes Raya the latest Arsenal first-team regular to hint publicly at a future exit, intensifying debate over the club's retention strategy ahead of the January transfer window.
