Netflix has released a trailer for "The One About Matthew Perry," a three-part documentary series premiering October 27 — the third anniversary of the beloved "Friends" star's death.
Netflix has dropped a trailer for its upcoming three-part documentary "The One About Matthew Perry," set to premiere on October 27, a date that marks the third anniversary of the actor's death. Directed by Mary Robertson and executive produced by Robertson, Lisa Kalikow, Eli Holzman, and Aaron Saidman, the series looks beyond Perry's iconic portrayal of Chandler Bing on "Friends" to examine his long struggle with addiction and his pursuit of sobriety. The documentary draws on previously unreleased photos and videos from the Perry family's private archive and features testimony from his sister Mia Perry Bowick, longtime friends David Pressman and Roger Castillo, and several former girlfriends. Former NBC President Warren Littlefield and Season 1 writer Jeff Strauss offer firsthand accounts of Perry's "Friends" audition and the creation of Chandler Bing. In a statement, Perry Bowick said she hopes the series gives everyone who loved him "a deeper appreciation for who he truly was and the legacy he survived by." Director Robertson described Perry as "one of the comedic geniuses of our time" who bravely spoke about addiction, adding that the public had only ever known part of his story.
