Taylor Swift headlines Academy Museum Gala honouring Theron, Domingo and Carpenter
The sixth Academy Museum Gala took over Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles on 17 October 2026, with Taylor Swift closing the night in honour of Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and horror auteur John Carpenter.
On Saturday 17 October 2026 the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures held its sixth annual gala at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, with a carpet at 5:30pm PT and dinner at 7pm. Taylor Swift was announced as the closing-night performer, her first live set since wrapping the Life of a Showgirl era. Charlize Theron received the Icon Award, Colman Domingo the Vantage Award and John Carpenter the Luminary Award. The gala was co-chaired by Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, with a host committee including Jessica Alba, Adrien Brody, Kirsten Dunst, Rami Malek, Demi Moore, Questlove and John Legend. The museum confirmed there would be no livestream, pushing fans to social media for clips. The night doubles as the museum's main fundraiser and traditionally sets the tone for Hollywood's awards season, with this edition drawing particular interest because Swift's attendance arrived days after her Encore reissue and amid speculation about a possible film project with director Rodriguez. Previous galas honoured Quentin Tarantino and Paul Mescal; the 2026 ceremony concluded shortly after 10pm PT.
