Daniel Craig takes over 250-year-old Clerkenwell pub
Former James Bond actor Daniel Craig becomes co-owner of The Horseshoe in Clerkenwell with Soho House founder Nick Jones, pledging to keep it as a 'boozer'.
Time Out London's story on actor Daniel Craig becoming co-owner of The Horseshoe in Clerkenwell has remained one of the site's most-read lifestyle pieces into 17 October 2026. The 250-year-old pub, said locally to be haunted, had been run by landlords Richard and Pauline Tucker for 36 years until it closed on 9 October 2026. Craig has taken it on alongside Soho House founder Nick Jones, hospitality operator Charlie Carroll and Bad Belze creative director Justin O'Shea. It is Craig's first pub, although both his father and grandparents ran one. He told The Times his aim was to keep the Clerkenwell site as 'a boozer', with simple bar snacks downstairs and a bigger dining room upstairs. The building also includes an upstairs darts room, a sheltered beer garden and other spaces due to be remodelled; the pub is set to reopen next year following a refurbishment that keeps its traditional character.
