Weekend of major Tube and train closures hits London
Large stretches of the Piccadilly, District and Elizabeth lines are suspended or reduced across the weekend of 17–18 October 2026 for engineering works.
Time Out London's rundown of weekend transport disruption, prominent on the site going into Saturday 17 October 2026, warns Londoners of extensive closures. On the Piccadilly line there is no service between Hammersmith and Heathrow (all terminals) or Uxbridge from 1am Saturday through Sunday. The District line has no trains between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway on both days, with replacement buses. On the Elizabeth line, Sunday brings reduced frequencies with only two trains an hour serving Heathrow Terminal 4, West Drayton, Langley, Slough, Burnham and Maidenhead, four trains an hour to Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3, and the stations at Acton Main Line, Hanwell and West Ealing fully closed. The DLR, Lioness, Mildmay, Weaver and Suffragette lines all face partial closures or reduced service too, with disruption colliding with the BFI London Film Festival finale and new weekend exhibitions pulling crowds into the centre.
