New lesbian pub Dorothy's to open in Camberwell
Co-founders Molly McCabe and Beth White raise £46,116 to turn a former Camberwell pub into Dorothy's, London's third dedicated lesbian venue.
Time Out London reported on 16 October 2026 that a new lesbian pub, Dorothy's, is set to open in Camberwell, southeast London, taking over the former St George's Tavern on Rainbow Street behind Burgess Park. Co-founders Molly McCabe and Beth White raised £46,116 through a crowdfunding campaign to launch the venue, which they describe as aiming to be 'a real queer home' rather than just another bar. Dorothy's will serve drinks from queer-owned brands, seasonal food cooked by queer chefs, and host live music, cabaret and drag performances. It will become London's third dedicated lesbian venue, joining La Camionera on Well Street and SHE in Soho, and is being framed as part of a broader 'lesbian renaissance' in the capital even as many other queer spaces have closed in recent years. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
