New Indian Gastropub Talli Queen to Open in Shepherd's Bush
The Talli Queen, a new Indian gastropub by former Michelin-starred River Café chef Avi Shashidhara, will open on 27 October inside the historic 120-year-old Queen Adelaide pub in Shepherd's Bush, blending southern Indian cooking with a British pub setting.
A new Indian gastropub called The Talli Queen is set to open on Tuesday 27 October at 412 Uxbridge Road, Shepherd's Bush, west London, taking over the Grade II-listed Queen Adelaide pub, a 120-year-old building. The venture is the work of chef and restaurateur Avi Shashidhara, a former chef at the Michelin-starred River Café who appeared on Great British Menu in 2023. He also runs the Fitzrovia restaurant Pahli Hill, which holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The menu is described as 'designed to be ordered freely' rather than in traditional course format, taking inspiration from Kerala's toddy shops, Bangalore's neighbourhood pubs and bars, and the military canteens of southern India. Standout dishes include toddy shop clams, Bangalore-inspired dosas, and chicken and liver pepper fry. The drinks list features 18 beers on tap alongside an array of Indian spirits including the rare Mahua. The renovation has preserved the building's original wood panelling, fireplaces and skylights, and there is also a terraced beer garden landscaped with jasmine. Chef Shashidhara described the venue as 'somewhere people can drop in for a pint, stay for dinner, bring the family on a Sunday or simply spend an afternoon with friends.' Reservations are available through thetalliqueen.co.uk.
