London Bus and Tram Fares Rising for First Time in Three Years
From 1 November 2026, a single adult London bus or tram fare will increase by 10p to £1.85, and the daily cap will rise from £5.25 to £5.55 — the first fare increase since March 2023 after Mayor Khan ended a seven-fold freeze.
Transport for London has confirmed that bus and tram fares across the capital will rise for the first time since March 2023, with the increases taking effect on 1 November 2026. A single adult bus or tram journey will go up by 10p, from £1.75 to £1.85. The Hopper fare — which covers unlimited bus and tram journeys within a one-hour window — will also increase to £1.85. The daily bus and tram cap will rise from £5.25 to £5.55. Concession-card fares will increase by 5p. Mayor Sadiq Khan had previously extended a bus and tram fare freeze seven times, and had stated as recently as July 2026 that he would 'continue doing everything in my power to keep TfL services as affordable as possible.' The freeze on Tube and rail fares within the TfL network is not affected by this announcement; those fares increased by an average of 5.8% in March 2026, with a Zone 1 single rising from £3.50 to £3.70 at peak times. Bus strikes that disrupted services earlier in the summer — involving Arriva London North drivers — had been called off by the autumn.
