Bayeux Tapestry Tickets Go on Sale Again — Here's What You Need to Know
A new batch of tickets for the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition at the British Museum went on sale on 21 October after the original allocation sold out, with adult tickets priced from £25 and photography now banned to ease visitor flow.
The Bayeux Tapestry's historic first display on British soil — at the British Museum until July 2027, after 900 years in Normandy — has been met with extraordinary demand, with the original block of tickets selling out weeks after the September 2026 opening. A fresh release of tickets went on sale on 21 October at 10am. Standard adult tickets are priced at £33, with off-peak slots at £27 and super off-peak at £25. Visitors are allocated 40-minute viewing slots, though some exceeded this, causing queues of over two hours and prompting complaints of being "rushed along and shouted at." In response, the British Museum has introduced a photography ban to speed up visitor flow, launched a new audio guide, added extra seating and signage, and announced plans for extended opening hours. The tapestry, which stretches 70 metres and depicts the 1066 Battle of Hastings, will return to Bayeux, France in 2027.
