Camden's Old Odeon Reborn as Community Arts Hub 'The Plaza'
Camden's former Odeon Parkway cinema, closed since February 2026, has reopened as The Plaza — a community film, arts and cultural hub offering cult screenings, exhibitions and live events until early 2028.
The Parkway cinema building in Camden — originally the Gaumont Palace Regent's Park, opened in 1937, and most recently an Odeon that closed in February 2026 — has been transformed into The Plaza, a community hub at 14 The Parkway. Co-founders Paul Saunders, Ivor Wilkins and Lee Bennett describe themselves as "custodians rather than owners," emphasising inclusivity: the venue will host cult film screenings curated by Midweek Cinema (inaugural films include Stop Making Sense and Videodrome on 24 October for £10.50), art exhibitions, live performances including a Pussy Riot show on 20 November, and DJ nights. Free senior screenings run every Wednesday morning and children's screenings take place Sunday mornings. The Plaza will operate until early 2028, at which point the building will be redeveloped into student flats.
