Plans Submitted for Community Sauna Facility in Crystal Palace Park
Crystal Palace Park Trust and Community Sauna Baths have filed plans with Bromley Council for a four-sauna, plunge-pool facility in Crystal Palace Park that could welcome up to 200 visitors a day.
Plans have been submitted to Bromley Council for a new community sauna facility in Crystal Palace Park, south London, proposed jointly by Crystal Palace Park Trust and Community Sauna Baths, a not-for-profit organisation already operating venues across London. The scheme would occupy the park's northernmost corner near the transmitting station tower, on the former caravan park site. It would feature four saunas, plunge pools, showers, changing cubicles, a therapy space, and a refreshment counter, designed to hold up to 50 people at one time and welcome up to 200 visitors daily. Operating hours would run from 7 am to 10 pm with a weekly half-day closure for maintenance. A five-year temporary approval is sought, with all structures designed to be fully removable. Pricing is expected to follow Community Sauna Baths' existing model of £12 per hour (£6 for concessions), with free sessions available for local health and community groups. One sauna has been designed with disabled access. The plans also include a cabin-style office for the park trust, which must vacate the National Sports Centre ahead of its £130 million upgrade. A planning decision from Bromley Council remains pending.
