Diwali on the Square Returns to Trafalgar Square on Sunday 25 October
The Mayor of London's free annual Diwali on the Square celebration returns to Trafalgar Square on Sunday 25 October 2026, featuring 200 dancers, live music, workshops and a South Asian market from 1pm to 7pm.
Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced the return of Diwali on the Square to Trafalgar Square on Sunday 25 October 2026, running from 1pm to 7pm and free to attend. The event, delivered with the volunteer-led Diwali in London committee, opens with a colourful performance by 200 dancers before giving way to a full programme of music, dance and cultural performances representing Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities. Around the square, visitors can take part in arts and crafts, sari and turban tying, yoga, meditation, and dance workshops, as well as StoryHour UK's Ramayana puppet show, which uses handcrafted puppets, music and narration to retell the Diwali story. A market with South Asian food stalls will also operate throughout the event. Headline sponsor Remitly is joined by associate partners Lidl and Jio Hotstar. Khan described the celebration as demonstrating "the very best of our diverse capital," with Diwali's message that "light will always triumph over darkness."
